foreign I'd like you to welcome everybody here to our awesome developer experience Meetup we've got a packed house today with all sorts of really um interesting people lots of engineering leaders and CTOs and Founders I've met a lot of really interested people so far uh and up
here with me I have four amazing uh internet Leaders with me today we're going to talk all about the developer experience they all have deep experience in teams leading teams uh leading big engineering teams so uh tonight we're going to be talking all about things related to the internal developer experience so the the experience of developers building software at your company The end-to-end Experience uh building and shipping and maintaining that software as your company so we're going to talk about like why it's important and how to measure it and uh tools and tips and
and processes and techniques and things that can help um and also I want to everybody to leave with some practical ways that you can improve devex in your organizations and even um Champion for the Improvement but how do you how do you advocate for it how do you Champion for it so uh before we start let me introduce myself along with our guests my name is John Laban I'm the CEO and co-founder of a company named Ops level Ops level is an internal developer portal uh it is a um you know it's it's a way for engineering teams to quickly build quality
software is what our Spiel is um so in a previous slide just to tell you a little bit about myself I was an early engineer at Amazon and I left Amazon with some friends who were founding a really tiny startup called PagerDuty and that was their first engineer their first employee there and I went on to do a bunch of things including uh running engineering for a little while and um you know my experiences there led me to um found a startup called OpsLevel with my co-founder Ken who's here
someone and um yeah we're what we're trying to do is make engineering life better for all of your area Engineers on your engineering team so let's uh let's introduce all of our awesome panelists today so uh first up we have John Kodumal who is the CTO and co-founder of LaunchDarkly it's a feature management platform first of all it lets uh developers push code continuously at their own pace and it lets um you know not having to wait and coordinate with others so that's like
product teams and marketing teams uh be able to run experiments and launch features on on their schedule as well um and then next we have mouth uh Malte is uh the CTO of Vercel and Vercel is a is a front-end Cloud company and they're also the maintainers of the next JS framework so um you know Vercel it works to abstract the way uh a lot of the complexity of deploying hosting previewing Distributing web applications you just merged code and it takes care of the resting so
I'll take you know you've got a really large um you know you're a fast growing engineering company sorry I got a bit of feedback but you've also uh run engineering things like Google in the past as well from what I understand so welcome um yeah uh and next up we have uh Jason Jason Sobel so uh Jason is the CTO of the New York Times which um you're probably all very familiar with this iconic you know company but they also have a very large engineering team and
um you know Jason you're running engineering there you're as a CTO but you've also enabling you've been enabling large engineering teams at other companies really massive engineering companies uh like uh Airbnb uh you're head of infrastructure engineering there and uh head of infrastructure engineering and Facebook as well so that well I I did not quite that good at this yeah I'm inflating the title there yeah I'll take it I'll say hi I'm a CEO of Facebook for a little while
