Daniel Roe
Daniel Roe is the Head of the Nuxt framework team. He hugely contributes to open source with a focus on the Nuxt ecosystem (as well as Vue.js). He is based in the North East of England where he lives with his family (cats included!). As we approach the one-year mark since the release of Nuxt 3, let's take a journey through the past, present, and future of Nuxt and its vibrant ecosystem. We'll reflect on the progress since Nuxt 3 was released and think about what's coming next. We'll start with what's possible today, before launching into some of the experimental features that will soon become integral parts of Nuxt ... and even some unannounced things we've been working on behind the scenes. Once of the highlights of Daniel's talk is the LIVE release of Nuxt v3.8! [Music] hello it is a real pleasure to uh to be here and uh and talk a little bit about some of the things that we're doing with Nu and that we have done with Nu and uh and so without further Ado uh let's talk a little bit about a new n um this is the best that Journey could
do so uh it will relieve you to know that we are not going to be going into a a future uh that is green and uh mountainous uh except in as much as hopefully there's some exciting N Things uh in the future to come um so a little bit about myself uh as as Jen said I am in the uh in the northeast of the UK um and there are a few projects I'm I'm involved with feel free to check check them out particularly the ones outside side of n which you might already have heard of like magic Rex
which helps make your regular Expressions a bit better Fontaine which helps deal with cumulative layout shift for uh for web fonts elk which is a client from masteron first commit which will find your your first GitHub commit uh web tools uh and and more um this is where I am now I actually have some sad news that I haven't really told a lot of people uh yet um so far and that is actually my my dog uh died recently um while I was I
was away H so I had actually a video call to say say goodbye to him but um my cats are still here um and they're they're comforting me and uh and generally being lovely uh and so this is where I am uh right now I have a cup of tea um and hopefully we can dive in and think a little bit about some of the exciting stuff uh coming with uh with next um so the road to KN 3 I think it's
fair to say was uh maybe not quite as smooth as this particular uh this particular path um nx3 was really exciting um to build and it was really exciting to be on that Journey um and the team um I think everyone on the team um whether Anthony or puya Sebastian or any of the many contributors who helped as we built Max 3 uh would definitely say it was exciting and and delightful um I mean personally I would love to know um how uh you found it I always find it interesting to talk to people who were there uh who were installing pre-release release candidate One release candidate 2 release
candidate three or on edge releases for a while it was um it was a fun Journey um and I think we've learned a lot um as part of that journey of things that probably will do better next time um and a little bit about what I'm going to talk today is looking forward into the future so things that we've learned from our journey to n 3 uh and things thinking about um the road to n 4
in particular so uh the first thing to say just because it is the connector between n 2 and NX 3 and going forward into the future is NX Bridge um you might be aware of it NX Bridge is a forward compatibility layer it's designed to be installed in a nx2 project and it's designed to help you migrate initially while we were building NX 3 it was a way to let people get a taste of new features and try them out in projects they already had so they could uh enable Nitro for example um they could try out
the new composes they could switch to vit um they could uh switch to unad from few meta um and so on um now it's actually taken quite a while for bridge to come out partly because as our Focus ramped up on nux 3 rightly um our focus on nux 2 um began to drop down and particularly with with bridge now that has begun to turn around particularly I want to call out uh riota um in the KNX Bridge team who's been doing a phen phenomenal job um backporting features
