hello everyone welcome to the DM BBY podcast today is a very exciting episode because we have the CEO and founder of versel this conversation is one I've been looking forward to for a really long time I'm super excited I'll try to be as calm and as collected as I possibly can enjoy the conversation so welcome to the podcast um I did give a slightly tiny introduction about you but uh I would really love it if you introd uce yourself to me and to everyone listening yeah for sure uh so I'm G

marou I'm known in the web or the internet for starting a couple open source projects notably socket.io mongus later on nextjs so I've had my hand in a number of popular open source projects in the JavaScript node.js ecosystems and then when I started nextjs uh concurrent to that I started company versell versell now Powers a lot

of the internet's infrastructure especially for companies that are looking to make their websites and web applications really fast AI ready and frankly for developers that want to have a good time like they want to have a good developer experience so they use our services awesome awesome um I guess let's start with how old you are how old are you you know interestingly I haven't shared that a bunch but I'm 34 uh I I was born in 1990 in Argentina in a kind of a small

neighborhood outside of Buenos Iris uh in South America and I've dedicated most of my life to uh I guess now you can say like look almost half my life I lived in the United States because I moved here uh now a while ago and half of my life I was born and grew up in Argentina and most of my life really have spent nerding out on the internet and Lear Le

about software development open source working on Tech so it's been uh it's become an extension of myself can you tell us a little bit about you know what kind of child were you were you creative were you taky did you even code you know when you were a little kid or in high school and stuff it's funny you should ask us now I have five children and I see a lot of these traits that my mom would talk about and a lot of them very restless impatient moving all the time things that today you know teachers

or experts who say that's not not good behavior in schools or whatever like let's give this kid something cuz he's crazy like I was just like all over the place like super like moving super fast super I guess ADHD always kind of like trying to like ask why about things like why is this a certain way how can I learn about why I got to that way and like so like a a high level of curiosity

and very competitive also I think this is a trait that is good for sports and business you enjoy the competition you you see someone running over there and you just want to run faster even if you cannot run faster you tell yourself I'm going to go and try and run faster guess a lot of those uh things uh have stayed with me over the years walk me through your uh you know education Journey like high school or college and what what you stud in college and stuff like that yeah so it's a super interesting one because

I did not go to college I dropped at high school so uh I was a pretty good student growing up I always had good grades growing up um I've been good at certain things not so good at others but like you know most of the subjects growing up like uh I I did well I really liked math I was very happy that as a kid I won a couple math competitions math Olympia that my school organized so it was I was kind of like a nerd in the
