Aurora Scharff
all right so today I'm joined by Aurora sharf she's a web developer from crayon Consulting you might know her from her recent talk in nextjs con uh that's actually how I came across her content but if you have been attending react conferences or JavaScript conferences you might have come across her workshops or talks it's great to have you here ARA thank you thank you for having me here awesome so just a little back story
about um how I actually came across your content I was uh watching nextjs conf I saw your talk about you using State um URL as the state for paginations for search and whatnot it's a topic that I have covered on the channel before but I saw your talk and um I instantly uh was like okay she knows what she's talking about she's in react on nexts I talk about nextjs all the time so we should connect we should talk I'm glad we doing this and we're going to be covering some
of the same concept that you talked about in the con MH because that's a very interesting topic and a more interesting in my opinion mindset mindset mindset shift because now you're treating the URL not only as a state but as a connection between your client and the server so before we get there I want to get to or my audience to get to know you a bit better you know talk about the Journey of how you ended up here doing conferences and then we'll dive into the technical
topics great good so yeah go ahead yeah I'm going to ask you questions or you can just dive in why don't you tell us how you ended up in web development first then we going to get to conferences as okay okay let's start with web dev so I don't have like a story like oh I was coding since I was 10 years old no I don't have that story however I did I was like always really into Tech I guess I was like making um installing Minecraft mods back
in the day when you had to like use WinRAR and everything and I really enjoyed that so I guess I kind of had that that coder in me even though I didn't code from when I was a kid but actually when I got into webdev I just decided to uh get a degree in robotics because I liked maths and I liked uh programming from this one subject I had in school so not really anything fancy I just started studying it and really liked it and um as I learned more and more I got into webd uh like over time
through my uni and uh working at the startup and yeah very natural natural story I guess just following the steps yeah um it's interesting you say that cuz I I have a similar background in that I don't have computer science back background I I was always curious just like you mentioned and it wasn't until I was trying to build a website for my own business a separate business and I dabbled into web development here and there and I was like I found some time
prior to pandemic and then pandemic hit I was like okay this may be the only time that I can just dive into and see what this interest where where is it going to take me and then I I fell in love and I was like man I should have started this sooner so you are a web developer by day yeah a conference speaker here and there so tell me about what you do daytoday in your day job like as a developer I'm assuming you're working with react and how did you stumble on nextjs where where did that
come from um so I I had uh one job before this working at a startup mostly with angular so I was already kind of into web dev but then after switching jobs and becoming a consultant um I started working more with react and I had one project with like a plain uh vit react Spa which was kind of my real like proper project which was I think over one year ago one uh two years ago and after that I was put on a n new project
